The Literary Litter Pickers

Mighty oaks from small acorns grow! The Literary Litter Pickers of Hobs Moat Library are up and running. A new community led litter picking group are now running from Hobs Moat library. Their first monthly outing took place on Tuesday 20 September 2016 when they collected nine bags of rubbish in just one hour.
The group is open to anyone who wants to help make their area tidier. All participants can socialise afterwards with a well earned cuppa on their return to Hobs Moat Library.
This new group is the second Literary Litter picking group to start up and follows the success of Olton’s Literary Litter Pickers which started meeting in May based at Olton library.
The Literary Litter Pickers was set up by a group of Olton residents after they became concerned about litter in their area. With support from councillors, Solihull Council’s Love Solihull programme, and local businesses including McDonalds and Toolman, the group have set about tackling the litter.

Councillor Tony Dicicco, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities and Partnerships, said: “The Council is thrilled that another Literary Litter Pickers group is starting with the support of local libraries and residents. It’s a great way for people to help look after their neighbourhoods and I would encourage anyone who can to get involved!”
