Secure Trust Bank – Beechcroft Open Space, Castle Bromwich

In 2016 Beechcroft Open Space was officially designated a Local Nature Reserve. The area provides a variety of semi natural habitats within easy reach of the residential areas of Castle Bromwich. Over three days in September a team of 30 volunteers from local business Secure Trust Bank joined us to undertake some scheduled maintenance tasks that would increase the variety of habitat types, allowing more species of flora and fauna, to thrive at the site.

The project involved opening up the pond, cutting a section of meadow, thinning out the woodland and planting some native bluebell bulbs which were kindly donated by Secure Trust Bank. The team worked exceptionally hard over the three days learning a variety of practical conservation skills and enjoying the opportunity to get out of the office into the fresh air.

Special thanks should be given to Castle Bromwich Scouts Association for providing the use of their building and facilities on this project.
