Litter Picking
Residents across Solihull take great pride in where they live and are very active in helping to keep their local areas litter-free.
On this page you can find more information about how to register and receive free litter picking equipment to start your volunteer journey. You can also find out about existing litter picking groups or how to start a new one where you live!
Love Solihull Community Litter Picking
Any individuals who would like to start litter picking can register online for our Love Solihull Community Litter Picking initiative and receive free equipment to help you get started.
For groups, schools, colleges and businesses - please see further details below on how to obtain equipment on a loan basis.
Once you are registered as an individual, you will receive an email from Love Solihull inviting you to collect equipment from your local library.

Please do not visit the library to collect equipment until you have registered and received a confirmation email from Love Solihull, as staff will be unable to issue equipment.
Once you receive your confirmation email, don't forget to check the library opening hours before visiting .

Want to litter pick in your school or college?
We can help your school or college to take part in litter picking, either on-site, or in your local area.
Litter picks can be arranged at any time of the year, or you might want to take part in the annual Keep Britain Tidy's Great Big School Clean
There's no need to register - just Get in Touch to request equipment and don't forget to check out our Environmental Education page for resources to support classroom activities.

Did you know you can also litter pick as a business during the Great British Spring Clean? It's a great way to demonstrate how your organisation is making an environmental impact.
There's no need to register - just Get In Touch and let us know when and where you are planning to litter pick, and how many staff will be taking part.
Who are Keep Britain Tidy?
They are the charity behind the annual Great British Spring Clean campaign, who offer a network of support to volunteers around the country.
Each year Love Solihull supports the two week campaign, helping cleanse our borough and raise awareness about the issue of litter.
How do I become a #LitterHero?
Keep Britain Tidy want to help all volunteers around the country connect and have the opportunity to influence change.
You can sign up to be a #LitterHero on their website, where you will receive exclusive newsletters and resources, as well as the opportunity to join the #LitterHero Facebook group.
Do I need to count my filled bags?
This can really help to gather a local picture of the litter where you live - during our annual volunteer survey we invite all volunteers to tell us how many bags they have collected during the year.
If you are part of a litter picking group, your group leader may also ask you to tell them how many bags you have collected each week or month, so they can have an idea of the impact the group is having locally.
Keep Britain Tidy also invites all #LitterHeroes to Collect & Count after each litter pick so they can begin to understand where the litter hot spots are nationally.
