Community hall gets a makeover

In June 2017 employees from Secure Trust Bank, pictured, donated a day of their time to freshen up Hockley Heath Pavilion.

The Pavilion is a community facility located in Hockley Heath recreation ground that serves Hockley Heath as well as the wider community. Currently a number of recreational classes are held in the hall for children and adults and the hall is also available to hire out for family parties on an occasional basis.  At the rear of the Pavilion are changing rooms and showers that are used regularly by local football teams.

A number of hall users had recently begun to comment on the halls tired appearance so Hockley Heath Parish Council, who manages the facility, contacted Love Solihull for help. Love Solihull helped to spread the word among their corporate volunteer groups and quickly it was Secure Trust Bank who put themselves forward to assist.

Not only did Secure Trust Bank offer to donate their time they were also able to get together all of the materials and tools to carry out the work. This included sourcing a supply of a variety of paints and bringing along rollers, paintbrushes and plenty of refreshments to keep the troops going.

A cleaner and fresher looking hall will be more appealing to all current and future hall users and it is hoped that the makeover will increase hall utilisation which will benefit the local community with further activities.
