Litter Picking Groups

Joining a litter picking group can be extremely rewarding and provides a great opportunity to socialise, be active and get involved with your local community.

What's it like being part of a litter picking group?

"I have been leading litter picking groups since 2016. When I first started I thought I was the only person mad enough to pick up other people's litter, but it turns out I was clearly one of many! I thoroughly enjoy our group litter picks as I thrive off being with other people and hearing what they've been doing. I'm delighted that we make such a notable difference to our area and i feel it really enhances what Solihull Council do."

There are 2 library based groups operating in Solihull called The Literary Litter Pickers.   Meeting from Olton Library monthly on a Saturday morning and Hobs Moat Library monthly on a Tuesday morning they litter pick the local area for an hour then come back to the library for tea, coffee and biscuits.   Both groups have been meeting for 8 years and have seen people come and go.  It is a friendly and easy group to join.  Whether you would just like to volunteer once or would like to join a regular group then you are very very welcome.   Above all else they are making the world of difference to their local areas in keeping them looking litter free.
