Environmental Education in Schools
Education about litter is a vital part of environmental education for children. If young people are taught the facts about litter at an early age, they are more likely to have a responsible attitude into their adult years.
Love Solihull is an initiative aimed at all members of the Solihull community – including our young people and children – to pledge to take action on litter in order to make this anti-social practice unacceptable.
Litter education in schools can form part of the curriculum and the Eco schools programme , particularly when supporting children to become responsible citizens. Taking part in litter picks and litter surveys and then collating and analysing the results can easily be integrated into subjects such as maths and science.
We can provide interactive talks, presentations and activities about litter to all Solihull Schools.
We can supply litter picks, gloves, tabards and bags upon request. If you require assistance with organising a litter survey or a litter pick, please do not hesitate to contact the Love Solihull Team.
Waste & Recycling
Incorporating the Reduce, Re-use and Recycle message within lessons and practically within school grounds is key to encouraging young people to think differently about waste, and how they can participate in their own lives.
We can offer a comprehensive programme of waste education, which links well with the curriculum and the Eco schools programme. We have produced Recycle for Solihull School for key stage 1 and 2.
