In 2010 Elliot was a vulnerable young person who had recently suffered the bereavement of his father. He was referred to the Neighbourhood Sports Programme (now Love Solihull) by Education Welfare Services to channel his anger and improve his social skills. Elliot had been excluded from Smith’s Wood Community Sports College on several occasions.
Elliot was referred by the Neighbourhood Activity Programme to their youth provision sessions with Wayne Elcock’s Box Clever at North Solihull Sports Centre. Elliot attended the sessions regularly on Monday evenings and also received one to one coaching with former British & W.B.U World Middleweight Champion Wayne Elcock
By 2011 there were noticeable improvements in Elliot’s attitude and behaviour and his mom commented on the improvement of her relationship with him. His boxing skills were also improving as in September 2012 he started training at Wayne Elcock’s ABA Amateur Boxing Club, where he was training up to start competing.
In December 2012 Elliot had his first amateur bout which he sadly lost on points. This did not deter Elliot from following his dream and on the 9th March 2013 at the Boxclever Graduation Show he had his second bout and won!
